Memories of Our Ladies
Miss Bradford’s cousin, Sara Bradford Saunders, shared memories of Miss Martha in a letter to the editor of a local paper. She remembers visiting The Old Woman’s Home as a child to spend time with her Cousin Martha. Mrs. Saunders mentioned the beautiful grounds, the stairs with large Iconic columns and her cousin’s four-poster bed. She describes Miss Bradford as a “unique character“. In 1912, Miss Bradford visited her family by carriage or train and after 1913, she rode the Nashville-Gallatin Interurban.
